A short walk will bring you to Lakeside (0.3miles) where you will find Windermere Lake Cruises take a spectacular sail up to Bowness or Ambleside with their many attractions or across the Lake to Fellfoot for playgrounds & picnics. Lakeside is also the home of The Aquarium of the Lakes with its captivating marine life and otters.
You can also hop on board the Furness Steam Railway or take Afternoon Tea in the elegant gardens of The Lakeside Hotel with stunning views across the Lake. History lovers will enjoy the numerous local heritage properties in the area, including Beatrix Potter s home at Far Sawrey only 6 miles or Wordsworth s School in Hawkshead where you can see his graffiti!

Once inside this ground floor property you will find a charming sitting room where a delightful wood burning stove, along with ample seating and a TV, make for cosy evenings in. This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
